Cool Radio

Cool Radio was this cheesy little thing I made in Macromedia (now Adobe) Director during my free time in a multimedia class. As Director is stupidly expensive even with an academic discount, I had no way of reducing the cheesiness level after the class was complete, and Cool Radio's cheesiness increasingly bothered me, to the point where I eventually decided to remove it from my website. Here is a screenshot so that you may observe its cheesiness for yourself:

The arrows (needless to say, they were quickly drawn on a computer) allowed the viewer to move through ten channels. Some channels were ticker tape, but most were music. Channels 1 and 10 were ticker-tape channels, the first introducing Cool Radio and the last showing the credits.

Channels 3, 7, and 9 were music loops lifted straight out of FlashKit.com, which I no longer visit regularly because the site has way too many advertisements. If you can stand the ads, you can listen to what was Channel 7. I've had no luck re-finding the other two loops on FlashKit.com, which is unfortunate because music authors ought to receive credit for their work, but fortunate because I'm going to show you my copies of those loops ad-free. Here's Channel 3 and Channel 9.

Channels 2, 5, and 8 were original creations of mine - short little music loop things constructed using four sound effects also taken from FlashKit.com. Here they are:

Channel 4 was a ticker-tape channel called "The Rooby-Roo Ralk Row", of course starring Hanna-Barbera's Scooby-Doo. It read as follows:

Scooby: Relcome to the Rooby-Roo Ralk Row! Rello sir, row are you roing?
Guest: What?
Scooby: Ri raid, row are you roing?
Guest: I can't understand you.
Scooby: Are you reeling rood? Rad? Rut?
Guest: I can't make out what you're saying, so I think I'll just leave.
Scooby: Rye-rye!

The other significant ticker-tape channel in Cool Radio was Channel 6, "Traveling with Stitch". I know I misspelled "travelling".

Announcer: Today on Traveling with Stitch, Stitch will chat with the president of Starbucks Coffee.
Stitch: Aloha!
President: Ah, hello, Stitch. Come in, sit down, have a cup of coffee?
Stitch: Ih. Ih. Ih! (gluk gluk gluk) Oooo, what is this? (crash) Hey, a scratching post shaped like chair! (scratch scratch scratch) AH HA HAHAHAHA! (smash tinkle bash)
President: You're too destructive, Stitch! Get OUT!

And that's the whole of what Cool Radio was. Truth be told, I still kinda like its content, which is why I've preserved it here, but its presentation... bleah.
